Yesterday my sister-in-law Carolyn gave my brother Lee a surprise 50th birthday. He is an avid fisherman so naturally there were fish everywhere. Carolyn had decorated with fishing lures, poles, etc. On each table was a fishbowl with goldfish in it. For dinner we had catfish with all of the trimmings. There were goldfish crackers, gummy fish, and gummy worms. My favorite were the cute fish cookies - fish shaped, not fish flavored. We had a great time, but we missed Mom and Dad ( Mom is at home recovering form her surgery). Happy Birthday, Lee! Thanks for a great day!

Mom's Surgery
This past week has been an emotional roller coaster. Last Wednesday my mother was taken to the hospital in extreme pain and losing a lot of blood through her bladder. The tests that followed revealed that she had a cancerous tumor in her left kidney. She had surgery Monday to remove the kidney and all attached tubes, etc. The doctors say that the cancer was contained in the kidney and she should be ok. We all praise God for a successful surgery, and are praying for a speedy recovery. Times like this are a reminder as to how quickly life can take a turn. We should live everyday making sure that the people in our lives know how much we love them.
